The Year 2024
From the 10th of June, owners of cats could be fined £500 if they don’t get their cats microchipped, (will the cats also need an app before tucking into their Whiskas?)

Meanwhile people are literally pulling their teeth out, rather than expect that might be something that could be done fairly cheaply by a proficient professional, in the 21st century.

What a time to be alive.

Re: The Year 2024
It brings the law in line with that on dogs.
It might seem petty but is designed to stamp out irresponsible ownership and means that when a deceased injured or ill-treated moggy is brought in the owners can be traced easily and if necessary bought to book.
Lots of people get cats and don't bother to get them neutered so a male will wander miles in search of a mate and often get lost or run over as well as the animal homes being full of unwanted ones.
Anyone getting an animal needs to be fully aware of the cost of vets fees and that they can afford them (although low incomes can qualify for PDSA Blue Cross etc)
Free neutering is also offered sometimes to bring down the numbers of unwanted births

It also amazes me how when we have numerous abandoned dogs in the likes of Battersea and RSPCA homes how people are proudly showing off dogs they have rescued from the streets of downtown Bucharest or Cancun.
I had a rather animated conversation with a woman on the tube with one the other day and she gave me the distinct impression that getting a mutt from Battersea just wouldn't be trendy enough

bruuuno - ha, it does indeed.

I’m waiting to see lots of posts on social media along the lines of;

“I’m officially declaring this cat is mine, and any photos of it become my intellectual property. By posting this on my Facebook account it makes it illegal to use photos of my cat without my permission and I can charge £50 per photo. Pass it on”
